Welcome to another installment of This Week in Spring! This week I'm in Dublin, Ireland and London, UK, and Boston, Massachusetts, giving open workshops at Pivotal Dublin and London and speaking to local customers. It's been a fun week and there's a lot to cover! So, let's get to it!

Spring for Apache Kafka 1.0.2 available now

It is my pleasure to announce that the Spring for Apache Kafka 1.0.2 maintenance release is available now.

As usual, thanks to the community for any feedback and contribution all the ways!

This release contains several critical bug fixes, therefore an upgrade is highly recommended. The master branch has now switched to 1.1 and we are starting migrating to Kafka 0.10 and other features on the matter with possible Milestone 1 later this month.

Spring Cloud Brixton.SR3 is available

On behalf of the team, I am pleased to announce that Service Release 3 of the Spring Cloud Brixton Release Train is available today. The release can be found in our Spring Release repository and Maven Central.

Included in this release is the GA release of Spring Cloud Task.

Other than the addition of Spring Cloud Task, this release includes primarily bug fixes.

Spring Cloud Task 1.0.1.RELEASE is now available

We are pleased to announce the release of Spring Cloud Task 1.0.1.RELEASE. This is the recommended GA release for Spring Cloud Task and is available from Maven Central as well as the usual other locations.

How did we get here?

Spring Cloud Task, is a step in an evolution of data applications in the Spring portfolio. As we announce this release, it may be helpful to look at how we got to this point.

Java DSL for Spring Integration 1.2 M1 and 1.1.3 are available

I’m pleased to announce that the Java DSL for Spring Integration 1.2 M1 is available now!

First of I’d like to thank everyone who created issues, raised Pull Requests, provided feedback or just asked questions on StackOverflow. Without the community we couldn’t be the successful project we are today!

The artifact org.springframework.integration:spring-integration-java-dsl:1.2.0.M1 is available in the Milestone repo. So, give it a shot and don’t hesitate to raise a GH issue for any feedback!

Some highlights of the current iteration:

Apache Kafka 0.9 support

Based on the recently released Spring for Apache Kafka project, a new Kafka09 factory has been introduced. This is straightforward Java DSL factory for producing IntegrationComponentSpec fluent API builders for adapters based on the a Spring for Apache Kafka foundation. An existing Kafka factory for Apache Kafka 0.8

Spring Security 4.1.1 Released

I’m pleased to announce the release of Spring Security 4.1.1.RELEASE which resolves over 50 issues. This release provides mitigation for CVE-2016-5007 There are also lots of bug fixes, but there are also a few notable enhancements.

Spring Tool Suite 3.8.0 released

  • many small improvements to improve developer productivity
